Bear the Cross

"Some are all too ready to wear the cross, but not to bear the cross. We often prefer a health-and-wealth gospel to one of suffering and service. We join churches because they meet our needs, not because they give us the most opportunity to serve and sacrifice for the gospel. Yet still, the cross beckons us to come and stand in its shadow. Whether we do so or not is the ultimate test of our discipleship."

- Ben Witherington III

I really like this quote! I think it gets to the heart of following Christ. Even before He died, Jesus' call was to bear our crosses and follow Him. Jesus call has always been the same. How we respond is up to us.

Camden

Luke 9:23

And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.

Luke 14:27

Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.
